"Not My Dollhouse"
Photography Series | 2018
“Not My Dollhouse,” is a photographic discussion on social issues and the quest for perfection. Mass media and advertising define an ideal image that we are meant to strive to emulate. In contrast, there are many social issues that plague humanity. These do not hold the same limelight in society, and are often ignored and cast to the wayside.
I chose to use Barbie as my model, because I felt she represented the “perfect” human form. I also found it interesting that a figure like this is marketed and sold as a children’s toy, and to be admired. I find issue with this, as these “perfect” dolls are used by children to engage in life based play.
I placed my perfect Barbie and Ken in situations to depict the underground life that is not acceptable or deemed pleasant. The photographic tableaus utilize scale shift, as the Barbies are placed in real world settings. The social issues are depicted in an overt manner so that irony and humor is used to bring light to each topic.

Packaging Design

Nobel Ale Works
Brewery Branding & Packaging Design | 2017
Beer branding and packaging design for Nobel Ale Works Brewery, located in Anaheim, CA. The overall tone of the brewery is fun and sarcastic, and this is reflected in the names chosen for their beer varieties. The re-branding had to visually express these qualities. The beer labels feature original photographic imagery that were then rendered into graphic elements. The mentality of “why not” is also carried into the design of the beer bottles and beer tap. A triangular shape was chosen because of its uniqueness in the marketplace. The bottles and tap were 3D modeled and then molded and cast in liquid plastic.

Case Study for a fictitious cosmetic retail store SWAK, or Sealed With A Kiss. The company’s brand is meant to embody passion, mixed with a bit of attitude. This cheeky attitude is seen in the shopping bag design, as it resembles a pair of hot pink cheetah print panties. The options for gift box include a take-out box and a paint can version to choose from. Both follow the idea of sassy attitude, as they utilize unusual containers.

Music Packaging Design
Coheed and Cambria | 2018
Music Packaging design case study for the band Coheed and Cambria. The packaging design sought to bring together the audiences of the band’s music and the fan base of their graphic novels. In both the music and the graphic novels, the dragonfly is a constant symbol, and therefore is a focal point of the packaging design. Inside the collector’s box, a USB in the shape of a dragonfly is preloaded with their music album. The numbers on the eyes of the dragonfly are a redemption code to download the latest issue of their graphic novel.

Lost Coast Brewery
Beer Packaging Design | 2016
Beer packaging design for a fictitious new beer variety for Lost Coast Brewery. This new beer variety reflects the history and aesthetic style of Lost Coast. English Invasion combines English brewing techniques and coastal flavors as a nod to the origins of the brewery. In the initial R&D, the founders of Lost Coast spent 3 years studying English and Welsh pubs. The founders also strongly believed in using locally grown crops to add unique flavor to their beer. All of this history can not only be visually seen on the label but tasted in the brew.
